“Perpetual Persistent Prayer!”(Lk.11:1-8).
The prophet Isaiah called for perpetual persistent prayer, neither giving ourselves any rest nor giving God any rest until he has answered us. Jesus said the same thing when he had taught his disciples how to pray.
We have gotten used to reciting what is now called “The Lord’s Prayer.” However, the argument is ongoing whether Jesus actually meant that we should recite it.
Jesus said, “When you pray, say:…” Is it that by this Jesus meant to teach us what should be included in the content of prayer or that it had to be recited as it is? If it has to be a model prayer to be recited, which should be the preferred version – the longer version of Matthew or this one of Luke? The choice is yours; possibly according to the choice of your denomination.
In any prayer, we must exalt God first. He is the Source of everything, and it is his will that has to be done.
By asking God to give us each day our daily bread, it means that a day must not go by without us praying for daily sustenance.
Since we often sin by ommission or commission, by error or by intent, our prayers must contain a request for forgiveness. What we radiate is what we attract. We should ask God’s forgiveness only as we have forgiven those who have wronged us. Above all, we should ask God daily to guide our feet away from temptation.
What is clear is that prayer has to be perpetual and persistent!
My friend, give yourself no rest, and give God no rest until he answers you!(Is.62:6-7).
Prayer of the day and week: Glory be to you O LORD Most High. I stand before you like a baby asking you to fulfil your will with me as a mother does to her baby. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
