“Obey God So That Through You God Can Bless Others!”
The passing away of Manu Dibango reminds me of the first saxophonist I ever knew because he was my elder brother in the quarter. I am talking of the late Dr. Moses Fokong, founder of the defunct West Cameroon Modern Jazz orchestra.
I don’t know how he got the title of Dr affixed to his name, maybe because he was a multitalented musician who handled musical instruments with dexterity.
Today I remember one of his songs, “Nyikob ni mfa yum mbo mun yi i to fa buñ dzù a” – God gives things to the person who will give to others to consume. Blessings from God are expected to be transmitted to others and not to be hoarded for self, family and close friends.
God rewarded Abraham’s readiness to sacrifice Isaac his only son with these words: “I swear by myself…I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky…and through your offspring all the nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me”(Gen.22:15-19).
My friend, has it ever occurred to you that all the blessings that have been yours is the result of a single act of sacrificial obedience by Abraham?
Have you obeyed God and has been blessed by him? If yes, know it that you are just a conduit through which God wants to bless other peoples of the earth.
The more others are blessed through you, the more God replenishes the blessings. A container that is never emptied cannot receive new content. You are blessed for others to be blessed through you.
Prayer: Lord teach me to obey you so that through me you will bless others. Amen!
