“May The Lord Bless The Works Of Your Hands!”
According to the lectionary of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) today the planting season for 2021 is being launched. This Sunday is Sunday of “Planting season and Blessing of seeds.” This is a typical inculturation which takes into consideration local realities. On this day people bring their seeds to church so that they are blessed in the presence of the Lord and his people before the approach of rain.
This Sunday was kept aside with this particular agricultural understanding. However, these days we also encourage technicians to bring their tools, teachers and pupils and those in white collar jobs to bring their pens and books for blessings too.
In consideration of this, even though we are presented with a long and very rich texts we would limit ourselves to these few verses; “…And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone…”(I Thes.5:14-24).
Yes my friend, there is no food for a lazy man! Today some of us stupidly believe that we can get by prayer what has to be gotten through hard work! In fact, prayer is very essential in the lives of believers but you have to pray as if work does not matter and equally work as if prayer does not matter. The two compliment each other.
God’s abundant blessings are for you too, but he is blessing the works of your hands. He is going to bless you at your place of work. Remember, “those who do not work must not eat!” Work hard; because hard work pays! May the Almighty bless you and “whatever your task, work heartily as serving the Lord and not men!”
Sunday prayer: Holy Spirit strengthen me to work hard in any task that I have so that God can bless the fruits of my labours. Amen!
We wish you an accident free farming season and a fruitful harvest thereafter. Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
