“Lord Of Compassion Feed Me Till I Want No More!”
A large crowd of about four thousand people had gathered around Jesus. They had been with Jesus for three days and had nothing to eat. Jesus considered that if he sent them away hungry they will collapse on the way because some came from a long distance. It was a remote place and it was difficult to get enough bread to feed them. Fortunately they had seven loaves of bread and a few small fish which Jesus used in feeding the crowd.
Jesus did this because as he ssid, “I have compassion for these people…”(Mk.8:1-9).
This is to say that those who persist in the presence of the Lord will never go back hungry. Jesus the bread of life feeds us spiritually and equally satisfies our physical hunger. Jesus has compassion for us. Jesus says, “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away”(Jn.6:37).
In the story we also learn that when we give thanks to God for the little we have, we can use it to achieve much. Jesus gave the bread for distribution only after he had given thanks. In the same way he gave thanks for the few small fish before asking the disciples to distribute them.
My friend, Jesus feels your pain, he knows your hunger because he has compassion for you. Remain in his presence and he will not leave you hungry. He is your bread of life. Always give thanks to God for the little you have and it will become much.
Prayer: Compassionate Lord Jesus Christ, here I am in your presence hungry for your word of life. Feed me till my want is over. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
