“Lord Make Me Your Servant; Display Your Splendour Through Me!”
A biker expressed his frustrations about human nature by writing on his bike, “If men were God some people will suffer.” Interestingly men are not God but they still make some people suffer. However, those with Joseph-like faith know that the machinations of men can never thwart the plans of God.
Isaiah called upon the islands and distant nations to hear this: “Before I was born the Lord called me; from my birth he has made mention of my name…in the shadow of his hands he hid me…” When God calls he hides us from sight; even from ourselves. We do not even know our worth and capabilities. We see deadends where he is charting our paths to his ultimate purpose.
Exiled Israel had lost hope of a restoration but the words of Isaiah surely rekindled their hope. God’s promise was to raise a servant who was not only to restore the tribes of Jacob but one who will be “a light for the Gentiles” and bring his “salvation to the ends of the earth.”
My friend, with God it is not ended until he has said it is ended. Just as this hidden servant was revealed in the person of Jesus Christ, in the same way he has destined you for an ultimate good. Keep your focus on God because you may be the chosen one to bring back his battered and frustrated people living in “home exile” caged and suppressed by tyrants.
Each child of God whose eyes are upon the Lord can say with conviction like Isaiah, “I am honoured in the eyes of the Lord and my God has been my strength…”(49:1-6). Yes, the Lord has been your strength and the Lord is your strength!
Prayer: Thank you Lord for the reassurance of our restoration and for being my strength. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
