“Lord, In Your Compassion Spare Us!”(Mal.3:13-4:2a).
Some few years after Nehemiah had led those who returned and rebuilt Jerusalem, some people raised accusations against the Lord saying, “It is futile to serve God. What did we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly the evil doers prosper, and even those who challenge God escape…” They said harsh things against the Lord.
Indeed, in life some people on the eve of their victory sat down to rest. And while resting they died. Many have given up, saying, “it is futile”, not knowing that they were just at the verge of arrival (winning).
However, there are always those who stand firm on the promises of God which cannot fail. These are those who feared the Lord. They talk with each other, and the Lord listens and hears.
It is good to remain steadfast in the Lord, despite the intensity of the storms of life. The sea cannot be peaceful just because as a child of God you are sailing. But with Christ in your boat, he can always calm the waves and storms, saying, “Peace! Be still!”
Notwithstanding the vicissitudes of life, remain steadfast in the Lord. The Lord assures us, “They will be mine…I will spare them…And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.”
On the Day of the Lord, “you who revere the name of the Lord, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing on its wings…”
Stand firm on the promises of God which cannot fail! God will not give up on you, so no matter the hardships, do not say harsh things against the Lord. Those who fear the Lord, talk with each other, the Lord listens and hears. He will cause his sun of righteousness to rise on us.
Prayer: Lord listen and hear us because we are yours. In your compassion spare us. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
