“Lord I Believe Your Promise!”
To make a promise is to “assure someone that one will definitely do something or that something will happen.” Many dissappointments in life are caused by unfulfilled promises. As such we tend to be sceptical of promises – including the promises of God.
But God is not man. What he says he will do, he will do! When God promises you, believe him. God does not settle for less. He gives more than we expect. The Nigerian gospel singer says she asked for a child from God but God gave her children.
Abram was the first person to ask for one and was given countless. God spoke to him in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” Abram was not convinced because he was childless and was advanced in age. Abram did not regard any gift from God to be valuable without a biological “Chopchair.” God told him, “Look up at the heavens and count the stars – if indeed you can count them. So shall your offspring be.”
Upon hearing this “Abram believed and the Lord credited it to him as righteousness” (Gen.15:1-6).
Today Abram is celebrated as the “father of all who believe” because he “believed the Lord and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
My friend, what is it that is troubling you about the future? Listen to God’s silent voice as he whispers: “Do not be afraid. I am your shield, your very great reward.” The future may not be seen, but believe in the promise of God. What he says he will do, he will surely do!
Prayer of the week: Lord, I believe in your promise. Have your way in my life. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working week. Have a blessed day and week. Peace be with you!
