“Lord Hear Our Prayer And Let Our Cry Come Up To You!”
It all started as 2016 unfolded its last months. It was a lawyers’ protest march. Then came another by teachers’ Trade Unions. Then all hell was let loose! Since then thousands have been sent to their graves untimely. Tens of thousands of people have been displaced, some living in bushes under horrendous conditions, some displaced to other towns roaming in joblessness, indulging in scamming, feymania and prostitution. Tens of thousands are refugees in foreign lands. Thousands of houses have been razed down to ashes in hundreds of villages. Desolatiin, desertion, despair and uncertainty all over the place.
Despite all talks of peaceful resolutions, the violence has flared up in full force in this early 2020 and the worst has happened in this new year than it has been since 2017. Villages lie in waste and desolation. Those who put their trust in the Lord sometimes wonder whether he is dead as Nietzsche once put it.
But is God dead? Does he care? He is not dead! He cares! It took hundreds of years of slavery and bondage of the Jews before God told shepherd Moses, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them…So now I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”
Yes, this should be our comfort that God is seeing our misery and hearing our cry. God bids his time as he prepares a Moses right in Pharaoh’s palace.
Another great lesson: God does not select those we consider super or perfect. He selects the weak, anoints and equips! God is able to do anything. He can perform any miracle in any way, but he chooses to act through weak human beings. He chose a weak exiled non eloquent person like Moses to go confront mighty Pharaoh(Ex.3:1-12& 4:10-12). This should be our consolation in our hope. Let us keep the fire of hope burning! God is not indifferent!
It is going to be well!
Prayer of the week: Lord we have cried enough. Come to our rescue, put an end to this mayhem and restore our hope. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
