“Let The Word Grow In You Like Seed!”
One of the reasons why Africans have embraced the Bible until it has become an African book is the efficacy of words stressed by the Bible.
In Africa the power in words cannot be underestimated. The ancients say, “Do not insult somebody on his day of ill luck” because if anything happens to him, it will be concluded that your words caused it. Words are used in blessings just as much as words can attract curses.
In the same way the world of the Bible stresses the importance of words. At creation, each time God’s word went out of his mouth, something extraordinary happened.
John in attempting to explain Christ to a people steeped in philosophy said, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God”(Jn.1:1).
The word is like sown seed. The sower can watch it day and night. Whether he is asleep or awake, the crop produces its yield all by itself until the farmer comes in to harvest (Mk.4:26-29).
In fact, the preacher of the word has no power to direct the response of the listeners. No matter how much you have put in to prepare a message, no matter how oratorial your presentation, after that it is the work of the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of the recipients.
What is true is that the word of God is sharper than a two-edged sword which does not return to him without effect.
Ours is to scatter the word like seed and praying that when we hear God’s word let our hearts not be hardened!
Prayer: Holy Spirit work in me so that God’s word should achieve its intended purpose of making me a kingdom child. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
