“Let God Be Praised Because Of You!”
“I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. I did not receive it from any man…I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ…But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by his grace, was pleased to reveal his son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles…”(Gal.1:11-24).
In our generation it is becoming a taboo to mention your life’s story in a message. While one should not become the focal point of a message, one’s personal encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ is a necessary testimony that helps to edify and challenge others.
Paul is one such person who was never ashamed or shy to use his life’s story to reveal the grace, mercy and love of God in his life.
When your life story in the message makes you the focus of the message, then the gospel you preach is man made. But when your life’s story in the message is a testimony of the Lord’s favour, then it is “received by revelation from Jesus Christ.”
Whoever God calls for whatever purpose is not a random or haphazard selection. God sets apart from birth and calls by his grace. And in his pleasure he reveals his Son in you. God does not reveal his Son “To” you; he reveals his Son “In” you so that you may preach him to those to whom you are sent!
This does not mean that whoever is called must become a preacher. We are called to serve in all areas and disciplines of life. Being a Christian automatically makes you a preacher of the gospel. This is made possible through your daily living which may be the only Bible that those around you are reading.
So therefore my dear friend, let your horizontal relationship with others be a reflection of the vertical grace that you have received from God through Christ. Comport yourself in such a way that others can report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”
Let the people praise God because of you!
Weekend prayer: Heavenly Father thank you for revealing your Son in me. May the people praise you because of my testimony. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
