“Jesus Christ, The True Glory Of The LORD!”(Ez.1:4-6&22-28).
“You are the LORD, that is your name. You will never share your glory with anyone…”
The above is the song of praise and adoration which came to me this morning. The song is inspired by this verse from today’s text;
“This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it I fell facedown and I heard the voice of one speaking.”
The General Certificate of Education (GCE) examination is soon to begin. After writing, the examiners will converge at the various marking centres to correct the scripts. As one of those who corrected the scripts for Religious Studies for many years, beginning 1999, I cannot forget the funtime and humour shared by examiners in the marking rooms.
I recall how in one of the marking sessions it was the turn of an Islamic teacher to open the day with meditation and prayer. He said among other things that Christians mock Muslims that in prayer, they bow and lift up their backsides to God. He said when Jesus told his disciples to stay awake, watch and pray, they rather fell asleep. If they had been awake they would have seen the posture Jesus took in prayer.
Sounds funny, isn’t it? Some may even say, it is a mockery!
The truth is that whoever beholds the likeness of the glory of the LORD” must fall facedown so as to hear the voice of one speaking.
When we have exhausted all our human faculties of reasoning, only in our visions can we behold the likeness of the glory of the LORD.
Visionaries do not concentrate on the mundane and physical realm. Visionaries are those who can transport themselves to the spiritual realm to be able to discern spiritual realities.
You have free access to the spiritual realm when you make Jesus Christ the final reality of the LORD’s glory your point of departure and final bus stop! To God be the glory!
In the past visionaries like Ezekiel, because of their purity of heart were able to see only “the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. In our day we have Jesus Christ who is the fullness of the Revelation of the glory of the LORD. All we have to do is to free our minds of hallucinations, nightmares and confused dreams of subconcious continuation of our conscious thoughts so that we can see the glory of the LORD in Jesus Christ. And when we see, let us fall face downward from where we can hear the voice of One speaking spiritual truths to us. For what are we but sheep if knowing God we lift not our hands in prayer to him…!
Prayer: Lord reveal your presence to me so that I can fall facedown in humble praise and adoration. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
