“It Is The Will Of God!”
Are you faced with circumstances in life where enemies rejoice that they have triumphed over you? It is not what happens to you that really matters; what matters is the way you react to what happens to you.
Put your trust in the Lord and you’ll come to realise that whatever happens to you is according to his plans for the welfare of others.
While in Philippi Paul and Silas were constantly being disturbed by a slave girl who had a spirit that enabled her to predict the future. Each time she followed them shouting, “These are the servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” Paul got worried one day and in the name of Jesus Christ he commanded the spirit out of her. She could no longer predict the future and her owners who made money out of her predictions concocted lies against Paul and Silas. They were stripped, severely flogged and put in prison.
Our focus is what took place in prison to show that whatever it is, it is the will of God.The emphasis of our meditations this week has been on worship, adoration, songs and praise. The week ends with the power of God manifesting in prison and converting the jailer and his household (Acts 16:16-34).
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and the other prisoners were listening to them…” As a result there was a sudden earthquake and all their chains fell off. The jailer was afraid because he thought the prisoners had escaped. He was about to kill himself when Paul stopped him and assured him that no prisoner had escaped.
The outcome of this incident was the conversion of the jailer and his entire household.
Dear friend, God has a purpose for every situation in your life. The detention of Paul and Silas may have been for a night but it served the same purpose like Joseph’s long jail term in Egypt.
The power of God reveals itself in prayer and praise to him.
No matter where you find yourself, God is leading you there for a mission. Don’t stop praying and praising him in your situation.
In prayer and song allow God to reveal his presence and use you to his glory.
Weekend prayer: Dear Lord, whatever may betide me let my prayer and songs be your tool of evangelization. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
