“It Is For God’s Glory!”
We often come across people who are dissatisfied that they made financial or material contributions towards some cause but were not acknowledged. Rightfully so, good deeds should be appreciated. However, the reason for doing good or for sacrificing for a cause must not be because one seeks recognition or appreciation.
Whatever you do, your Father in heaven sees and will reward you accordingly. Jesus did not raise Lazarus to life so that Martha and Mary should go about singing his praises. He did not bring Lazarus back to life because he wanted Lazarus to be displayed around town as the man who was brought back to life. He did it so that those who believe will see the glory of God (Jn.11:38-48).
There are those who saw what happened and “put their faith in him. But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin.” Top on the agenda of that meeting was: ‘Strategy on how to eliminate Jesus the obstacle!’
Introducing the agenda, it was said, “What are we accomplishing? Here is this man performing many miraculous signs. If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”
Watch out for the group of comforters! Among them are those who will believe and put their faith in Jesus Christ. But in that same comforting group are the “monitoring sprits!; the Job’s comforters!” Their concern is how to secure their interests as long as the status quo works to their advantage. They will go to any length to ensure that things work to their advantage; notwithstanding any harm it may cause to their scapegoats.
Such is life!
My friend, what is that deadlike situation in your life which “by this time there is a bad odor?” Jesus is telling you, “Believe and you would see the glory of God!” Even when people with no common affiliation (chief priests and Pharisees) congregate together to plan against you, in it is the plan of God to reveal his glory.
Do the good that you can to bring glory to God. Recognise what Jesus Christ is doing in your life and coninue to put your faith in him! Believing in Christ Jesus we are now dead to sin, but alive in him. And when physical death shall occur, we shall yet live again because He is the resurrection and the life.
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ thank you for the assurance of a new life amidst the bad odor of decay. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
