“If You Love Jesus Take Care Of All God’s Children!”
“…Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, ‘Do you love me?’ He said, ‘Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.'”
Peter had forgotten too soon that he had once told Jesus, “…I will lay down my life for you.” At that time Jesus who knew that human actions rarely followed words had responded, “…I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!”(Jn.13:37-38). True to Jesus’ words, Peter denied Jesus three times before the crow of a rooster on that night of his arrest (Jn.18:15-18 &25-27).
The charge to Peter is a charge to any of us who claim to love Jesus. To each of us the Jesus of faith says, “Feed my lambs…Take care of my sheep… Feed my sheep.”
It is a truth that the good shepherd ensures that the sheep stay together. He sees that they are well fed and he protects and defends them against animals of prey.
Whoever takes delight in scattering and deliberately destroying some sheep does not love Jesus in deed! Jesus had prayed that the flock should be one; even as he and the Father are one (Jn.17:11).
Love for Jesus Christ must be demonstrated by care of the people under our charge – irrespective of our rank or the number of people!
Besides, the care we give to others is in a way a life insurance policy. What you radiate is what you will attract for yourself in days to come, “because when you are old…someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go” (Jn.21:15-19). Truly “love is something that when you give it away it will come right back to you!
So my friend, if you love Jesus more than others, take care of all God’s children!
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me to be a caring shepherd of the flock. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
