“Happy New Year!”(Heb.13:8-9).
It’s another new year. Perhaps a remarkable difference between 2024 and 2023 is that 2024 is a leap year. This reminds me that a man lost an expensive landed property because he signed a document that was dated 30th February.
Any new year comes with its own challenges. We are already being flooded with prophecies, predictions, forecasts and foretelling of what is going to happen in 2024.
We are going to be bombarded this way and that way by new dimensions of the understanding of Christ. The Bible being a book like other books is at the mercy of readers and interpreters. This is so because a book does not belong to the author alone, but to the readers as well.
A scriptural passage to guide us and enable us to guard against being swept off our feet is from the Letter to the Hebrews: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods which are of no value to those who eat them.”
Let us cling to the unchanging Christ who has promised to be with us till the end of the age.
New Year Prayer: “I life up my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber…The LORD watches over you – the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”(Ps.121) Amen!
Peace be with you! Have a happy and fulfilling new year!
