“Grace Through Christ Jesus!”(Rom.5:12-14&18-20)[24/12/2024].
I was born in a fondom during the reign of a Fon who had forty wives. We grew up to know that if one wife did something wrong and was punished to bring a log of wood, all the other wives also had to bring a log each. So, to say, the other wives had to pay for an offence committed by one wife.
Through the sin of Adam, “death reigned…even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as Adam did…”
The coming of Christ was to reverse what Adam caused. “Just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man, the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of one man, the many will be made righteous…”
Such, my friend, is the work of grace: that Christ Jesus came to fix what Satan through Adam had spoiled.
One lesson drawn from the punishment of all the Fon’s wives because of the offence of one mate is that they all learn to caution each other and be one another’s keeper. This is exactly how grace functions; unbounded love and a sense of belonging and the spirit of togetherness in a sacrificial way.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for accepting to become the means of our grace. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you! Merry Christmas!
Rev Babila Fochang.
