“God’s Grace Has Located You Also!”
Peter had a vision in which he was very hungry and he saw heaven open and all kinds of four-footed animals and reptiles and birds came down from earth to heaven. A voice told him to get up, kill and eat. Peter replied that the Lord knows that he had never eaten anything impure or unclean. But the voice spoke again, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”
The moment he woke up he was told three men were looking for him. These men had been sent by Cornelius, a centurion, “a righteous and God-fearing man,” respected by all Jewish people.
When Peter arrived the home of Cornelius he now understood the meaning of the vision. He began to speak, “I now realise how true it is that God does not show favouritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right…” He told them about the fate that befell Jesus but how God raised him up on the third day and how “he commanded us to preach to the people and testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead…”
Peter said something that we miss at our detriment. When Christ was raised, “he was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen…”
Peter’s opening words in the home of Cornelius is that moment of realisation that must come to any one who claims to be a better convert than others! Peter may have known that God shows no favouritism, but the truth of it had not yet dawned on him. The scale fell off his eyes through the vision.
Jesus says, “I will not cast out anyone who comes to me! Whoever fears God and does what is right isa child of salvation.
Besides, not everybody sees the risen Lord, except those whom God had already chosen. Such persons are commissioned to testify that Jesus is the one whom God sent as judge.
Lastly, those who listen and believe the testimony about Christ the Holy Spirit is poured out on them(Acts.10:34-45).
Yes my friend, God shows no favouritism, we too should emulate his example!
Prayer: Lord harden not my heart so that I should not show favouritism. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
