“Follow Jesus Christ In Good And Bad Times!”(Mt.26:31-35).
The strategy to stop any group or movement that arises to advocate just rights has been to identify the leader(s) and silence them through whatever means possible. However, it is also time tested and proven that such strategies of silencing succeeds only momentarily. It is difficult, even outrightly impossible to crush a good cause! Killing or distabilising the leaders is like stopping a train on high-speed!
In his last evening of being together with his disciples, Jesus told them,“This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'”
When Jesus made this prediction, Peter said,“Even if I have to die for you, I will never disown you.” ‘And all the other disciples said the same.”
But when Jesus was arrested,“all the disciples deserted him and fled.” Even Peter who at least dared to follow him right to the Sanhedrin courtyard denied him three times before the cock crowed(Mt.26:56&69-75).
Jesus Christ is Lord in good times as well as in bad times. God has not promised a constant bed of roses to those who follow and obey him. Hard times and tough times are bound to come, but the Lord Jesus Christ promises to be with us “always to the very end of the age”(Mt.28:20b).
The expectations from us is to remain faithful to him throug the waves and storms that often threaten our existence.
When Jesus made the prediction that the sheep will scatter, he wasn’t disappointed that they will scatter. Rather he assured them,“But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.”
Dear friend, when life threatens us and we fall away on account of Jesus, we shouldn’t do so with forlornness. Rather we should rejoice because he will be waiting for us in our Galilee. And from there he will never leave us nor forsake us.
Remain faithful to Christ in good and bad times. No storm lasts for ever. And when the storm is over, there is calm and peace. Jesus says to the waves and storms, “Peace be still”; and it is done!
Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus Christ. Even when we fall away from you, you still promise to wait for us in our Galilee. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
