“Do Not Panic At The Storm, Christ Is In The Boat!”
At a small gathering organized on my behalf yesterday I told the people, “This is the place to be. There is so much dining and wining. The majority of them told me, “Rev, this is just the tip of the iceberg. You’ve not seen anything yet.”
You can recall that today we call some gospel, “Food Gospel.”
Some people searched for Jesus and when they found him, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”
Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, you were looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
An idle crowd can always gather around you though for the wrong reasons. Yet they may have a change of mind once they are enlightened on what is right.
One of my professors, Allison Howell – we keep praying for her to be fully restored to health – kept reminding us that once you bring people to Christ, their first worry is what she termed, “The key to conduct question.” These include questions like, “What should we now do? What should we not do again? Etc!”
Having listened to Jesus their main problem was no longer about food; so they raised a key to conduct question, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus’ answer was what we call, “KISS”- Keep It Short and Simple! Jesus answered them, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent”(Jn.6:22-29).
Yes, it is not about food or material things. COVID-19 in our generation teaches us not to go looking for Jesus because of food and wealth. Within the twinkle of an eye these things can suddenly pass away or become valueless. What remains eternal which is the work of the Father is to believe in Jesus Christ whom he sent and upon whom he had placed his seal!
Don’t tell me Christianity has become meaningless because of COVID-19. Before Jesus Christ people were dieing. He too died and after him people are still dieing. This is not the first plague and will not be the last. God who holds the future is never too late and never too early. He is always on time. Believe in christ so that whether you die or live you have eternal life in him. But respect the rules that can ensure that you continue to live for Christ!
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I believe in you whom the Father has sent. Turn my eyes from looking at vanities. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
