“Do Not Be Afraid…Love Truth And Peace!”(Zec.8:14-19).
In our journey in faith there are moral and ethical character that is expected of those who are in covenant relationship with the Lord. We may not benefit any real blessing through our relationship with God if we fail in our moral and ethical actions in our relationships with one another.
Recently I listened to an audio of someone lamenting over the death of some persons. He said the population was asked to be calm because everything is under control. This person was so bitter that this song of “Be calm, everything is under control” has been sung so many times over. A song that is sung always over the death or disappearances of people! A song that is completely a glaring hoax!
How long are we going to live the lie and in lies? We are all praying for peace because hopefully we all love peace. But peace without justice is like a crumbling city wall. Justice on its part must be based on truth.
At every twist and turn we have delighted in falsehood, knowing fully well that every lie is a travesty of truth! We plot evil against our neighbours and rejoice when there is a travesty of justice indicting those we frame up because we envy and hate them. These are the things that God hates.
Yet our God is a compassionate Father. He says,“…I have determined to do good” to you. “Do not be afraid.” But the terms and conditions must apply. “These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; do not plot evil against your neighbour, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all this…Therefore love truth and peace.”
May we make determined efforts this Lent season to broker peace by ensuring justice born out of truth in our dealings with each other.
Weekend prayer: Thank you Lord for assuring us of our restoration. Help me to be just, and to love truth and peace. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
