“Advent Journey Day III.”
“Call Out To The LORD!”(Is.63:15-64:3).
In our struggles for a better tomorrow we must acknowledge that there was once an enviable time past, and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. Foncha, Endeley, Ahidjo and their companied were children of their time. Whichever political ideology won the day won because the majority thought the winning group offered the best option – except they, the masses were either placated or coerced to vote. The manipulations and lack of good faith over the passage of time only confirm that when God is not a main item on the agenda, then the whole thing becomes an orchestrated fiasco unrevealed!
Today, those who resisted what the majority considered the right thing are now vindicated.
Underlying the cause of our struggle is the deep spiritual gorge of abandonment by the One whom we boast politically that we can do without Him. God does not rule because the majority votes for him. God is who he is despite our opinion of him.
The Son of God says, “apart from me you can do nothing”(Jn.15:5).
Whatever woe betides us today as individuals or as a people, let us turn to the LORD in prayer like the Israel of old and cry out:
“Look down from heaven and see…Where are your zeal and your might?
Your tenderness and compassion are withheld from us. But you are our Father…you, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.
Why, O LORD, do you make us wander from your ways and harden our hearts so we do not revere you? Return for the sake of your servants…come down to make your name known to your enemies…”
As we await the commemoration of the incarnation, let us allow our God to fight our battles because from of old his name is “Father and Redeemer!”
Prayer: Our Father and Redeemer, do not withhold your tenderness and compassion from us. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
