“Build Your Eternal Home Now Through Loving Actions!” (Mt.25:31-46).
Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives when “the disciples came to him privately and said, ‘Tell us, when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”(Mt.24:3).
This question led Jesus to warn them to watch out against those who will come with deception claiming to be the Christ. He told them that the endtime date is unknown even to him. Jesus also used the parables of the Ten Virgins and the parable of the Talents to show how what happens to people at the endtime is determined by how they live their horizontal relationships with others here and now (Mt.24:4-30).
Lastly he told them what will happen when he will return in his glory with all the angels with him. “All the nations will be gathered before him and he will seperate the people one from another as a shepherd seperates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.”
Sheep represents tenderness, meekness, humility boardering on foolishness or stupidity. But above all the sheep represents togetherness and obedience. A flock of sheep even in townships move always as a herd; and without a shepherd. Those who drive through Old Town in Bamenda must once in a while slow down to allow a herd of sheep cross the road unattended. Such unity with the sheep is not seen with the goats.
One’s place in eternity after the judgment will depend on the treatment one gives to others now; especially to the less-opportuned.
The irony is that those little deeds of kindness and love may (not) have been done knowingly or unknowingly.
Those who do good deeds will inherit the kingdom which had been prepared since the creation of the world. Those who ignore the social plights of the destitute “will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life”
Bottomline is, do good and be good; even if you don’t know that what you are doing is of any importance in God’s sight.
When you go through this message, do not just press like or type ‘Amen,’ etc. Rather, decide to either feed a hungry person, or to give water to someone who is thirsty, or to clothe somebody, or to invite a stranger home – though with caution, or to look after a sick person or to visit a prisoner, etc.
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me to demonstrate the love of God to those nearest to me who are in need. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
Rev. Babila Fochang.
