“Be A True Ambassador Of Christ!”
While presenting his internship report a student told the seminary community how a recently widowed lady told him, “Pastor, if this God palaver na lie wuna better tell we.” This is not just history. Few days ago somebody told me, “You pastors confuse and embarrass us because of your unforgiving spirits and unchristian actions.
The moment we receive Christ we become new creations and our lifestyles must become different. Through Jesus Christ God reconciled us to himself “not counting men’s sins against them.”
God did not end there; he bequeathed to us “the message of reconcilation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God was making his appeal through us…”(II Cor.5:11-21).
Imagine the kind of world we would have if the Christian population of the world lives up to the expectation of being God’s ambassadors of reconciliation!
Without any dictionary definition an ambassador is someone who represents somebody in a foreign land and must be ready to give his life while defending the interest of the one who sent him. So what does it mean that you and I are ambassadors of Christ charged with the ministry of reconciliation?
Is this God palaver that we propagate true? Have we reconciled to one another or are we doctors who make prescriptions whose dosage we ourselves cannot take if we were suffering of the same malady?
My friend, the world you long to transform is represented in your backyard. Let the world see Christ through us if we are truly the ambassadors of Christ who are called by his name (Christians)!
Weekend prayer: Thank you Lord for making me a new creation and an ambassador of Christ charged with the ministry of reconciliation.
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
