“Be A New Creation; Carry The Mark Of Christ Jesus!”
In typical Pauline style there comes a moment in your Christian journey when the only way to tell others who the Lord is can only be by telling them of your own encounter with him. It is not by boasting of your achievements which attract human praise.
According to Paul those who were insisting for the Galatians to be circumcised were trying “to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ.” They who were circumcised did not obey the law, yet they wanted others to be circumcised “so that they may boast about your flesh.” That is judging by outward appearances!
Paul considers that the only thing to boast about is “in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”
No other thing in this world counts except “a new creation”(Gal.6:11-18). When as an individual you come to this realization, you would willingly and lovingly carry the marks of Jesus on your body. This includes shame, ridicule, humiliation, derision and disgrace for being firm about the things Jesus suffered and died for.
This is called “the courage to face truth” which eventually leads to acceptance, which in turn leads to love.
When we know our own and everyone else’s foibles, it gives rise to the ability to forgive and then to compassion. And “compassion is the doorway to grace, to the final realization of who we are and why we are here, and to the ultimate source of existence.” Jesus Christ Is that ultimate source of our existence and him crucified should be our only boast.
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ let my boasting be in your cross through which I am a new creation. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
