“Be A Messenger!”(Lk.3:15-20)[16/12/2024].
A messenger is “a person who carries a message or is employed to carry messages.” Messengers of the gospel are carriers of the good news as they exhort and call the people to repentance.
Even when the anxious and expectant crowds mistake them for the messiah, they should tell the people that they are only preparing the way for one who is greater than them.
Preach the good news and exhort the people with exhortations that lead them away from the route of damnation to the path of salvation.
According to Luke, John’s ministry ended when he was arrested by Herod. The end of John’s ministry marked the beginning of Jesus’ ministry. Jesus must increase as the messengers decrease. A shoulder can not grow above the head.
Dear friend of the expectant crowd, do not mistake messengers for the master.Listen to the messengers and “produce fruit in keeping with repentance.”
Prayer of the day and week: Holy Spirit, help us to be receptive to the good news so as to escape the wrath of God. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed working day and week!
Peace be with you!
Rev Babila Fochang.
