“Avoid Friendship With The World!”
We have a very rich text that to summarise is an injustice. However, let us highlight some key verses.
Are you one such person who considers that God does not answer prayers? Then consider this: “You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures…Don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy to God. “
Therefore, if you want to have friendship with God and not with the world, then you must submit yourself to God. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
When you have fallen into error stop saying it was the work of the devil!! “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners and purify your hearts, you double minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourself before the Lord, and he will lift you up”(Jm.4:1-10).
My friend, this is a befitting text which gives us directives on what to do and what not to do during this season of Lent if we want to be put right with God! Do well to read all of James.
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me to resist the devil and come near to God as I grieve, mourn and wail over my sins. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
