“Ask God For What You Want!”
Someone has remarked that a worship service is drama. It is drama in the sense that during service all worshippers are actors and audience. In a worship service every worshipper plays a vital role, like when the whole congregation is called to sing, recite some parts of the liturgy, give offerings and to pray.
Interestingly during worship your individual prayer is as important to you as is the prayer of the worship leader or the pastor. During worship your personal oupouring of your need to the Lord is even more heard by God than the one the pastor prays for you.
I am drawing inspiration from the example of Hannah in the temple at Shiloh. She had been mocked by her mate for so long because she was childless.
One day in the temple at Shiloh, while Eli the priest was sitting on a chair, “in bitterness of soul Hannah wept much and prayed to the Lord. And sge made a vow, saying, ‘O Lord Almighty, if you will only look upon your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a child, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life…'”
The priest did not even accompany her in her prayers. He instead thought she was drunk because “Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard…”
When she explained herself to Eli, he gave her his benediction, saying, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him” (I Sam.1:9-18).
My friend, when you go to Church don’t just sit there to be entertained by others. In anguish and bitterness of soul pour out your needs to the Lord in silent prayer. God hears your prayers just as much as that of the man of God!
It is never too late for God to answer your prayer. Even now he is listening to you ready to grant your request.
Prayer intention: Ask God for one thing you need most, making a vow of what you will do in return if your prayer is answered.
Prayer of the week: Father Almighty pour out your blessings upon me this week according to the measure you have apportioned to me. Amen!
Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
