“Ask According To God’s Will!”

“Ask According To God’s Will!”(I Jn.5:14-15).
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked him.”
It is true that we can ask God anything, but must we take anything to mean everything including asking with evil intentions?
Consider this: An angel of God appeared to a shop owner and told him, “God has asked me to bless you with whatever you ask for. But take note that your competitor across the road will be given double of whatever you ask for.” The shop owner reflected deeply and with a warm smile he told the angej, “Make me blind in one eye.”
Another story: A hunter told his beloved son to choose the part of the animal that he will always eat each time his mother cooks an animal brought home by the father. The boy told the father that he would want to eat only the hindleg of any animal. All was fine until the day the mother cooked a python.
God knows what is good for us and that is why he is not compelled to give us just anything because we have asked for it.
God gives us what we ask “according to his will.” Our request must align to God’s will. He would not give us stones when we ask for bread and he would not give us snakes when we ask for fish.
God will also not give us bread and fish if the excess would cause us constipation.
So therefore my friend, seek God’s
will first, so that whatever you ask of him should be according to his will. Once you ask what is according to his will, be sure that you have it.
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me to seek God’s will so that any request I make to him should be according to his will. Amen!
