“Anchor Your Faith In Sharing Eternity With Christ!”
It is true that “faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” For the most part our belief in this faith definition is about the assurance of mundane achievements.
However, we are told that Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham and Sarah “were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance…They were longing for a better country – a heavenly one.”
If faith was the awaiting of the fulfilment of things longed for in this earthly life Abraham would not have dared to offer Isaac as a sacrifice. He would have argued with God, reminding God to remember how much he had cried for a son. On the contrary, by faith “Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead…”(Heb.11:13-19a). December 1st is the beginning of the season of Advent. Advent is a period of four weeks preceding Christmas. During this season we work on strengthening our faith in loving awaiting; not only for the birth of Jesus Christ, but also reflecting on the second coming of Christ.
Advent reminds us that “the life that was given to us at Christmas was given for us on Calvary.” This is to say that as we await the coming of the Lord in the form of a baby, we should consider it also as if he is coming as on judgment day!
Therefore live your life today in such a way that at the second coming you will be seated with Christ where he lives and reigns forever!
Work on your soul and radiate the love of God through acts of love!
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ strengthen my faith to be anchored in the conviction of enjoying eternity in your kingdom with all the elect. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
