“Abide In The Living And Active Word Of God!”(Heb.4:12-13).
A young man joyfully announced to his friends, “At last, I am now free of the dos and don’ts of the Bible!” His friends asked whether he had discovered a new way of keeping the commandments of the Lord? He told them that far from that, he had simply stopped reading the Bible.
On the contrary, there was this East African woman who always moved around with her Bible. When asked why she was so attached to her Bible, she replied, “I am attached to my Bible because it is the only book that I read which reads me too.”
Whether we are reading it or hearing it, “The word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit…it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
Like the young man we may decide to liberate ourselves by not reading the Bible anymore, but it still stands that, “nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.”
Our secret thoughts and desires are not discernible to human scrutiny but the word of God is a living power with an all seeing eye, penetrating the totality and depths of our beings.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the incarnate Word who has revealed God’s truth to us. This incarnate Word is in turn revealed to us through God’s word. It is noble to abide in the living and active word of God; if we cherish to be in the presence of the Word!
Weekend prayer: Word of God cut deep into me and keep me on the path of obedience to the Lord. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
