“A Glorious Invite!”(Rev.19:16-19).
All through the week we have been reflecting on the Bread Of Life that comes from heaven. The Lord Jesus Christ having offered his life on the cross for sinful humanity, enjoined us to commemorate his death till his coming again in glory.
We round up the week with a reminder about the blessedness of those who are invited.
This verse of invite has been popularized as it is pronounced as the last call to the communicants before they start queuing for the Lord’s Supper:
“Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding (marriage) supper of the Lamb!” The minister then adds, “Come, now with faith and repentant hearts to the table which the Lord has prepared for you. Take and eat of his bread of life and drink of his cup of salvation with thanksgiving.”
My friend, let us round up on this great invite with the song of Grant Colfax Tullar: “The Spirit And Bride Say Come!”
- A glorious invitation
Now calls you to the feast;
Each soul is now invited,
The greatest and the least.
Come, all ye heavy laden,
With sorrow or with care—
Today you are invited,
Your burdens Christ will bear.
The Spirit says come,
The Bride says come;
let him that heareth say come;
Let him that thirsteth come.
And whosoever will,
Let him take of the water of life freely.
2 That blessed invitation!
Oh, hear today and heed,
The Spirit now is calling,
Why longer dwell in need?
Thy soul today is fainting
For Christ the living bread;
Accept the invitation,
Come while the feast is spread. [Refrain]
3 Repeat the invitation!
Pass on blessed news;
let none forsake His mercy,
Or pardon now refuse,
‘Tis Jesus who is calling—
All things are ready, come!
The Spirit will direct you,
The Bride will welcome home. [Refrain]…
It is an open invitation but a dress code is required. All invitees
must put on the wedding garment: “fine linen, bright and clean…which is the righteous acts of the saints.”
You have been invited; no doubt. Maybe you are already comfortably seated in the banquet hall. But you risk being thrown out if you are not putting on the wedding garment!(Mt.22:11-14).
And the wedding garment is “the righteous acts of the saints.”
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit help me to prepare my wedding garment before responding to the invite to the marriage supper of the Lamb. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
