“Impartial God!”(Is.45:1-8).
In this new day, LORD, take me as I am and use me to the glory of your name!
The bucket can’t hide its envy when it realises that a basket carries water and there’s no leakage.
With God, nothing is impossible.
Imagine the LORD calling the Gentile Cyrus “his anointed!”
The LORD called Cyrus his anointed because he took him to subdue nations and to strip kings of their armor. The LORD promised that he will go before him to level the mountains, breaking down gates of bronze and cutting through bars of iron. The LORD was to do this just so that Cyrus should know that he is the LORD.
The LORD called emperor Cyrus because he had commissioned him for a divine mission. This was despite the fact that Cyrus possibly worshipped the chief Babylonian deity Marduk.
God can use anybody from anywhere, even when they do not acknowledge him.
The LORD tells any one of us, “I summon you by name…though you do not acknowledge me. I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me, there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me…”
We often think that we are the architects of our successes, yet we blame our failures on deity and village people.
Remember this:“Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labour in vain.”
The LORD elevated Cyrus and his empire so that Israel should come to repentance. When our enemies triumph over us, we should check to see where we went wrong with God and repent. This is the reason why Jesus, the sum total of God’s anointed came – that we should believe in him and have everlasting life. Do you believe it?
Prayer of the day and week: Holy Spirit, when my enemies triumph over me, help me to repent and turn to the Messiah of Messiahs. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you! Merry Christmas and a fulfilling New Year!
