“On Being A Fruitful Branch!”(Jn.15:1-8).
The Lord Jesus Christ continues with the “Ego Emi” – “I Am” words that was blasphemous to the ears of Jewish religious authorities. Yesterday we read, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”(Jn.14:6).
Today we read, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener…I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you are nothing.”
We do not become inseparsble from Christ because we are Christians. The much fruit is not about wealth and prosperity! It is about being mature and gaining more and more the fruits of the Spirit.
God the Father is a gardener who cuts off every branch that does not bear fruit – meaning the sin-proned life is taken away from the book of life.
On the other hand, the Father prunes the branch that bears fruit so that it ptoduces even more. Remember this: it is neither by might nor by power, but simply by God’s Spirit. That is why the Lord Jesus Christ says, “Apart from me you can do nothing.”
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you have much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
Therefore, abide in the Lord Jesus Christ and his words
so that you will bear much fruit to the glory of the Father!
Prayer: Holy Spirit enable me to remain in Christ and his words. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
