“Jesus Christ The Omnipresent One!”(Jn.16:16-23).
“In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.”
When Jesus spoke the above words some of his disciples did not understand. May be some of us too would not have undetstood, but now we understand because to us it is no longer a dramatic irony.
We are eighteen days away from the commemoration of the Ascenssion of the Lord Jesus Christ. So we know that what he meant by “in a little while…” was to tell how he will return to where he came from.
Jesus talked of “in a little while…” while he was still alive. He was saying this to clarify how he will be missed when he is taken up to heaven, and how he will later be seen again through the active presence of the Holy Spirit. In the Great Commission he assures: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
At his death the world rejoiced, while the disciples were weeping and mourning. But their time of laughter and rejoicing came when the grave could hold him anymore.
In our moments of grief we feel we have been abandoned. We look up to the cross and it is empty. We turn to the tomb and it is empty. But when we remember that he conquered death, our strength becomes renewed like that of an eagle.
Dear friend, in that moment of grief – which surely comes to all of us – remember the words of the Lord, “Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.”
“My Father will give you whatever you ask in my name” is the basis on which we pray, saying: “through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. Amen!”
When the storms of life blow hard on you, smile at the storm because Christ is in the boat. Fix your eyes on him who says, “Fear not; I have overcome the world!” When others pelt you with rotten fruits, wipe the mess, gather thr fruits and nurse them. One day they will bear fruits which you will share with them. Do not let anyone take away your joy!
Sunday prayer: Lord Jesus Christ thank you for assuring me of your constant presence. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
