“Faith Heals And Frees From Suffering!”(Mk. 5:21-34).
In this text let us focus on the one concerning the woman who had been bleeding for twelve years without remedy. As the Lord Jesus was passing by she thought to herself that if only she touched his clothes she will be healed.
When you are in distress, set your own agenda with the Lord Jesus Christ. This woman would have given up if she was frightened of, or if she had allowed herself to be bullied by the crowd. But no! She refused to give up; she was determined to face any bully. She pushed her way through and touched the cloak of Jesus! Desperation is a driving force for a determined execution of a decision.
“It is not over until it is over!” “You have not fallen, until you refuse to get up!” Set your agenda with Christ and let nothing deter you and you will achieve what you want.
But the healing comes not by the mere fulfilment of our agendas. At the very moment “she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering,” Jesus too realized that power had gone out from him. He sought to know who had touched his clothes, but his disciples thought his question was a bad joke. They didn’t see how possible it was to know who had touched his clothes in a crowd.
It is true that people may have been rubbing themselves on Jesus, but without an agenda. Their touch were not intentional, so it probably had no effect on them nor on Jesus.
After the quizzing from Jesus, she took the final bold step and she “came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.”
I dare say that it is at this moment that her healing took place as the Lord told her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
The intention of the woman was to receive healing from the Lord by touching his clothes. When she touched his clothes, and her bleeding stopped, “she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.”
Being free from her suffering is not the same as being healed. She received healing at that moment when in response to Jesus’ question she “came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.” At this moment the Lord Jesus Christ pronounced both her healing and her being freed of her suffering.
Apart from her bleeding for twelve years, “she had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had.” She came to Jesus, touched his clothes without spending anything. For her this was the end of her suffering! But her true healing came only later.
My friend, do you have an unending sickness that has caused you to suffer a great deal under the care of many doctors? Set an agenda with the Mighty Healer, the Lord Jesus Christ. Do not allow yourself to be intimidated by any crowd, and do not fear the crowd. Be determined to find Christ. Above all, muster the courage to fall at the Lord’s feet, trembling in fear and tell him the whole truth about your agenda. The Lord Jesus Christ is ready to pronounce on you, “Daughter/son, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
However, let us be clear on this: Our encounters with the Lord will vary. What works for one person may not work the same for the other. We stand on different platforms. To Zacheus who climbed up the tree to see Jesus, Jesus told him to come down and be his host for that day. To some who asked for sight, he mixed mud with spittle, rubbed it on their eyes and asked them to go wash it in a pool. And yet others he said, let it be done as you want, and it was done. Etc.
Set your own agenda with Jesus Christ on what you want to happen and follow up to its end. It will work for you! It is called FAITH! It is not farfetched when it is said that life is an examination where each person’s question is unique. In such an examination copy work is already a fail, even if you ask for extra sheets. Therefore run on your lane in your agenda with the Lord Jesus Christ!
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ let your power flow into my situation and grant me that which I desire of you. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
