“Grace, Love And Fellowship!”(II Cor.13:14).
“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”(II Cor.13:14).
In telling the story of his ministry Paul says a thorn was given him in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment him, lest he became conceited. Three times he pleaded with the Lord to take it away, but the Lord said to him,“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”(II Cor.12:7-9).
When David’s heart was troubled because of his sins he cried out in penitence,“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me”(Ps.51:10-12).
When the children of Israel were lost in fear as Pharaoh approached with his army, Moses assured them,“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today…The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still”(Ex.14:13-14).
Grace is unmerited favour and more. We do not merit the death of the Son of God. It is the depth of God’s love for us that caused him to dispense that instrument of grace. It is love and grace that causes him to fight for us, if we stand firm in his love.
Yet, even with the abundance of grace, we must humble ourselves before his throne of grace with contrite and repentant hearts so that we can have continuous fellowship with the Holy Spirit and fellowship with the brethren who constitute the body of Christ.
When we receive this Trinitarian Benediction we must remind ourselves that the Lord may not take away the thorn in our flesh, but he assures,“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Mind you:Do not leave a fellowship without receiving God’s benediction.
Weekend prayer: Holy Triune God, thank you for grace and love and fellowship. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
