God Overlooks Our Ignorance!”

“God Overlooks Our Ignorance!”(Acts 17:22-34).
Plato upheld that “knowledge is recollection.” This is to say knowledge is not found in the external world; it is internally located. That possibly explains why Socrates taught by asking questions upon questions until the student found the solution to a problem by self.
A better way to introduce a new topic is by beginning with the known to the unknown.
When Paul started speaking in the meeting of the Areopagus, he said, “Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an alter with this inscription:TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaoim to you…” He went further to tell them of the God who created all things. This is the way Paul introduced Jesus Christ to the Athenians.
No people exist without knowledge of God. A people’s primal religion is a preparatory ground for the reception of Jesus Christ. Earlier on Luke had told us that everywhere in the world God has not left himself without a witness(Acts 14:17).
When Paul mentioned the resurrection of the dead, “some of them sneered, but others said, ‘We want to hear you again on the subject.” The best news of it all is that “A few men became followers of Paul and believed.”
A central message of Paul to the Athenians which by extension is to us is that “In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice, by the man he has appointed.”
Dear friend, whatever has been your recent ignorance, God has overlooked it. Make a turnaround back to him and in Christ Jesus your sins will be forgiven.
Weekend prayer: Heavenly Father thank you that through Jesus Christ you have overlooked our past ignorance and received us repented sinners. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
