“Jesus Christ Is Our Only Miraculous Sign!”(Mt.12:38-42).
African believers are criss-crossing the continent, not in search of Christ, but in search of miraculous signs that would convince them that a messenger is of/from Christ Jesus. Charlatans take advantage of this gullibility and come up with all sorts of fake miraculous signs. The examples include making calls to heaven with cell phones, blowing people to the ground by the wave of one’s hand, fake testimonies of healing etc!
The Lord Jesus Christ can still address the miracle seekers of our time as “a wicked and adulterous generation” asking for miraculous signs.
Instead of wanting to see miraculous signs we should rather succumb to the words,“Today, if you hear God’s voice, harden not your hearts!”
Nineveh was doomed for destructiin but when Jonah preached to them, they repented. They didn’t wait for a miraculous sign before believing in the words of Jonah. The Queen of Sheba left her country and travelled long distance to listen to Solomon’s wisdom. After having listened and seen for herself, she erased any doubt she nursed. In her own words to Solomon she confessed, “The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true. But I didn’t believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes… Because of the Lord’s eternal love for Israel, he has made you king, to maintain justice and righteousness”(I Kgs 10:1-9).
Jesus Christ is more than Jonah and Solomon. He is the incarnation of miraculous signs. Our lives are full of God’s miraculous signs.
My friend, if you are reading this it is because you have breath. No other miracle is needed for you to know that you are alive today because God’s oxygen is still available to you for free. You do not need any other miraculous sign before you believe in the one who has shown you immeasurable love.
Besides, to quote from Prudence Neba, “Sometimes, miracles are kind hearted people. You can be a miracle in someone’s life.”
What we need is repentance, not miracles or miraculous signs and wonders. Jesus Christ is enough for us. He is miraculous signs incarnated.
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ you are the miraculous sign that I need. Liberate me in moments of doubt. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
