“The Time Of God’s Favor And Salvation Is Now!”
In the days of old God spoke through prophet Isaiah saying, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you”(49:8).
Paul reminded and urged the Corinthians on this (II Cor.6:1-8a). By extension he is urging us too that we should not “receive God’s grace in vain.”
God’s favor is not futuristic, as “…now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”
The message of favor and salvation is fulfilled in the incarnation of Jesus who at the resurrection became the Christ for those who believe in him. The sacrificial death of Jesus Christ is the full manifestation of God’s grace which we have received. Christ died for all, “that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again”(II Cor.5:15).
The period between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and his second coming is known only by God (Mt.24:36ff). But it can be today. If we live today the way we please and then the Lord suddenly appears, it would mean that we received God’s grace in vain.
The Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius said perfection of charcter is “to live each day as if it were your last, without frenzy, without apathy, without regrets.”
The world would experience less hatred and more love, less pain and more joy, less heartaches but more enriched hearts and less evil but more good; if as individuals we lived each day as if it were our last day on earth; if we regarded others as if they were living their last day on earth.
So therefore, to ensure that you do not receive God’s grace in vain, live each day conscious that “now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” There may never be any tomorrow. Make peace with fellow others and make peace with God as long as it is called today!
Prayer: Holy Spirit guide me so that I should not receive God’s grace in vain. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
