Text: Zec.7:8-14).
Theme: “When The Lord Calls, Listen To Him And He Will Listen To You When You Call!”
Most quarells are the results of unfairness, inequalities and injustices. Oh yes, when injustice becomes law, God becomes angry with the people! In his anger he scatters them like a whirlwind among the nations and they become strangers.
This Scriptures is being fulfilled in our contexts as if we were the ones directly addressed.
God’s message is very clear: “Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor. In your hearts do not think evil of each other.”
Sadly enough, “we refused to pay attention; stubbornly we turned our backs and stopped up our ears. We made our hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the Lord Almighty has sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. So the Lord Almighty is very angry.”
Now we are complaining that dust is entering our eyes, but when we were wildly raising the dust with out feet, we turned deaf ears to the words of caution from the sages!
God’s best possible world is still possible when we “administer true justice.” Note that it is not just about justice, but true justice!
We all stand in need of mercy and compassion because in our weaknesses we hurt others either by error or by design. Besides, if God was not merciful and compassionate towards us all, none of us would be saved.
The widows, the fatherless, the alien and the poor are always the voiceless of society. If we oppress them, there may not be anyone to speak for them. But we must be careful because the Lord holds dearly those voiceless people. They are like the tailess cows. Only God drives away their flies.
Above all, we all know as Jesus once expressed, that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. So therefore, “In your hearts do not think evil of each other.”
Dear friends, the greatest weapons that can win all our battles is within us. It is what is in your heart that causes you to treat others the way you do.
We truly can make this world a better place for all of us if you truly desire it and actualize it.
When we walk the path agreable to the Lord he will bless us abundantly and motivate us to give generously to those in need.
Sunday prayer: Holy Spirit help me daily to listen when the Lord calls so that he will listen when I call. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
