“Plan Only What Is Good!”
(Prv.14:19-24).
A couple hated a beggar to the extent that they poisoned bread and gave him to eat. The beggar was a kindhearted man. He did not choose to become a beggar; it was just unfortunate that he fell into bad times and hard times hit him hard.
He was full when the couple gave him the bread, so he took it with him to eat at a later hour. On his way he met the two children of the couple returning from school. They saw him with the bread, and knowing that he was always generous, they begged him for the bread. He gave it to them and they ate. By the time they got home the poison was already working in them. It was already too late when the parents learned from them that they had eaten bread which they begged from the beggar. That’s how the couple lost their only children! Evil is real and nemesis is real! What goes around comes around. And like a boomerang; it comes back with such force that cannot be withstood.
When you delight in evil, you will soon bow down in the presence of the good. When you plot evil you will go astray because you will miss out on God’s well lined-up best plan for your life.
When you despise the poor because of their condition in life, you are sinning. God’s blessings rain on those who are kind to the needy. “A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the needy”(Prv.22:9). It is good to work hard with honesty and become wealthy but do not be a miser. Because “he who increases his wealth by exhorbitant interest amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor”(Prv.28:8). Also, concern for the needy is to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…defend the rights of the poor and needy”(Prv.31:8-9).
My friend, you honour God when you show such kindness. God will deliver you in times of trouble, protect you and preserve your life. He will bless you in the land (Ps.41:1-2). So therefore, walk in the wisdom of the Lord and receive his manifold blessings.
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me to plan only what is good so that I should find love and faithfulness. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
Babila Fochang.
