“Fear The Lord By Hating Evil!”
By now we all know that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” The fear of the Lord is not fear in the sense of being frightened or scared of something. “To fear the Lord is to hate evil.”
Paul says Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God and that Christ is our wisdom. And Wisdom says, “I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.” Wisdom “is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed”(Prv.8:12-21). Wisdom was with God from the beginning and it was by him that “the Lord laid the earth’s foundations”(Prv.3:18-19).
Wisdom walks in the way of righteousness and along the paths of justice. Human wisdom that does not align with divine wisdom is ephemeral. That is why when we seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness all other things are given to us.
My friend, we are not wise to know the things of God, but when we come to him in all foolishness, he becomes our wisdom. He equips us to become full of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. When we are thus equipped we will gain spiritual insight, and that is when we begin to realise that mundane pursuits are like chasing the wind. Wise counsel and sound judgment will become ours.
Therefore, fear God and become wise.
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me to cling on Christ, the wisdom of God. Amen!
