“Because Of Your Great Mercy O Lord…Hear And Act!”
While in the Babylonian captivity Daniel immersed himself in the book of Jeremiah. Therein he learned that the “desolation of Jerusalem will last seventy yesrs.” So Daniel “turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting and in sackcloth and ashes”*(Dan.9:1-3).
We may not be in a similar situation, but it’s not very different.
It was towards the tail end of the year 2016. When it started it was a lawyers’ thing. Later on the teachers joined the ranks until it soon became the problem of all of us; even when we said it wasn’t a problem.
Those with myopic foresights actually took the empty shout of “our march to Buea” to be a physical actuality to be realised. We warned that it was a rough and dreary route we were taking and that its end was far out of sight!
Today angel Gabriel is reminding us that whatever is happening to us is the result of our collective sin. What we are passing through may last longer than now! *Many more years are decreed for us as a nation, as a people “to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy”*(Dan.9:18-24).
Yes my friend; we need a complete turn-around with contrite and repentant hearts so that the Lord in his grace should rescue us.
Sunday prayer: *”Give ear O God, and hear, open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make request of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay…” to come and save us! Amen!*
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
