“Walk While You Have The Light!”
Ignorance breeds a lot of misunderstandings amongst folks and cause people to understand at cross purposes. A young minister after spending some months in his new parish noticed that the parishioners drank a lot of “afohfoh”– locally distilled gin. One Sunday he wanted to demonstrate the dangers of taking the drink. While preaching he took a life earthworm and put in a glass half full with the gin. The worm died instantly. But to his disgust the people exclaimed as with one voice, “So it is a worm killer too?” They then resolved to take the gin even more as worm medicine. When people have chosen not to believe a thing, or to twist its meaning, there’s nothing you can do to convince their twisted reasoning!
All the miracles which Jesus performed did not convince those who hated him to believe in him. They quoted the same scriptures aright but were lacking in its interpretation.
They knew from the Law “that the Christ will remain forever…” It didn’t make sense for Jesus to be talking “The Son Of Man must be lifted up;” Who was the Son of Man?
Jesus enlightened them further, even as he enligthens us today: “…Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going. Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light.”
After saying this Jesus did something very interseting and very teaching: “When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them”(Jn.12:34-41).
My friend, there is a time to hide yourself from them; there is a time to lie low! Do not allow the adversary to cheat on God’s time! What has to be should be at God’s appointed time, not by the planned machinations of stiff-necked manipulators!
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, light of the world, make me a son of light as I keep a closer walk with you. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
