“You Are The Ransomed Of The Lord!”
The new normal in the troubled region where I reside is kidnapping and demands for ransom. What was supposed to be a struggle for selfhood has turned out to be gangsterism against the very people we claim to be fighting for.
We have prayed and fasted and we are still praying and fasting. Our mockers may taunt us like Elijah did to the prophets of Baal, saying, “…Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened…” (I Kg.18:27).
Far from it, our God neither sleeps nor dozes. He does not travel because he is everywhere.
He keeps track of our movements. He knows our predicaments because he is the author and finisher of our lives. He promises to gather us wherever he has scattered us. He himself is our shepherd. The ransoms our kidnappers are asking does not ensure our safety. God will ransom us and redeem us from the hand of those stronger than us. He will give us comfort and joy instead of sorrow.(Jer.31:10-14).
Whatever misfortunes that has befallen or is befalling us are momentary. The best is yet to come! It shall come to pass. Every difficulty has an expiry date. Let us put our trust in God always, and walk in his ways with the assurance that through Christ we have overcome the world.
We have a Shepherd who makes us lie down in green pastures and leads us besides still waters. There is no reason to fear any evil because the Lord is with us. Keep hope alive!
Prayer of the week: Father Almighty I thank you that you have ransomed and redeemed me through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working week. Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
