“With Us In Mind, God Had A Better Plan!”(Heb.11:32-40).
Hebrews chapter 11 is often called, “Hall of Faith”, “Faith Hall of Fame”, or “The Chapter of Faith.” In this chapter are glimpses into the stories of “Heroes of Faith.” This chapter indicates that Abraham is not the “Father of Faith” as he is often erroneously referred to. There are many flowers that blossom, sent out sweet fragrances, but their beauty and fragrance are neither seen by human eyes, nor their sweet fragrances ever breathed by anybody.
These men and women kept the faith, risking their lives, and some even died for the faith. But the concluding verses to this chapter of faith points out that despite their faith, “the fulfilment of the promises of God is cross-generational.” It says,“These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.” The promise of the Christ in the Old Testament (OT) was not fulfilled by the men and women of OT times. See how grateful Simeon was when the baby Jesus was presented in the temple. Simeon was happy to depart the world in peace because he had seen the salvation which God had prepared for his people (Lk.2:29-32). It is in the same way that in John the Baptist, his father said God had fulfilled the promise which he made to Abraham (Lk.1:67-79). Indeed, Abraham could only look at the stars to imagine his descendants – heirs of the promise!(Gen.15:5).
On the other hand, this serves as an allegory that those in this generation who pillage because of war and those who squander the general resources for their selfish ends are doing a disservice to themselves. If there is no hope for the next generation, then the present generation cannot be beneficiaries of the promises of God!
If we know that “With us in mind, God had a better plan,” we should equally know that “with the next generation in mind, God has a better plan as well!” Therefore, let us plan well for the next generation.
Above all, let is rejoice that God has loved us from the beginning to time to bring us into the world when the Christ had been fully revealed to humanity. Chist alone is the solid rock on which we should stand, because all other ground is sinking sand!
Prayer: Glory be to you LORD of the universe because with us in mind you had a better plan. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
