“When Wisdom Calls…!”(Prv.9:1-10).
I cannot help but repeat this story of an encounter between an atheist and a clergyman. The clergyman, dressed in his clerical shirt had just entered a restaurant when an atheist walked up to him saying, “There is no God! There is no God!” The clergyman politely replied, “Yes, I know. The Bible says so.” The atheist was taken aback, and he asked, “Does the Bible actually say that there is no God?” The clergyman answered, “The Bible says that ‘The fool says in his heart that there is no God.’ But the biblical fool was wiser than you because he only said it in his heart, but you go about shouting it everywhere that there is no God.”
Human folly is often confused for wisdom. I learned from the late Prof. Kwame Bediako that all academic pursuit is a quest for truth; which when found must be submitted at the feet of Christ.” Truly so, because “Christ is our wisdom!”
At the end of the day, when your travelling days are done, you wouldn’t worry so much because you do not know, and even if you know, you won’t care about what is happening to you. Only other people will be there and in pensive wonderment would ask, “What is (this) life (all about)?”
Human folly that we consider wisdom has a way of luring us off the narrow path that leads to where true wisdom resides.
Wisdom invites, “all who are simple come in here!” Wisdom tells those who lack judgment,’ Come,…Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of understanding…”
Where is that Wiseman who says there is no God? Then what is the source of his wisdom? Whatever is called wisdom, if it is not of God is just human folly, humanly considered to be wisdom.
Who does not fear God has neither wisdom nor understanding. For “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
The LORD says, “Come!” Obey his call and become wise!
Prayer of the week: Holy Spirit help me daily to obey the call of wisdom. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
