“Trust In The LORD And Be Blessed!”(Jer.17:7-8).
The book of Job is an answer to the question: “Why do good people suffer while the wicked prosper?”(Job 21:7-15).
The author of Job was not the only person with such a worry. Malachi had the same worry that the arrogant are called blessed, “the evildoers prosper and even those who challenge God escape”(Mal.3:15).
While in council with the LORD Jeremiah raised the same concerns.
The prophet complained to the LORD, “You are always righteous, O LORD, when I bring a case to you. Yet I would speak with you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease? You have planted them, and they have taken root: they grow and bear fruit. You are always on their lips but far from their hearts“(Jer.12:1-2).
God is ready to listen and respond to those who stand in his council and are ready to receive his counsel.
The justice of the LORD seemingly does not make sense! Success in God’s eyes is not about the comfortable life and great achievements which blinds our perceptions of reality.
When we see evil people succeeding we are like wanting to bring down fire to destroy them. But God’s justice doesn’t work the way we think.
The Lord Jesus Christ says the weeds should be allowed to grow alongside the wheat. It is only at harvest time that the weeds will be removed and tied in bundles and burnt up. But the wheat will be harvested and stored in barns.
Rather than fretting about the success of the wicked, focus on your confidence in the LORD.
The answer which the LORD gave to Jeremiah is the same for you and I; including the wicked who repents.
These are assuring words to cherish: “But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water, that sends out it’s roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always green. It has no worry in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
“Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away…The LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish”(Ps.1:4-6).
So therefore my friend, let us keep trusting the LORD who never fails. But if we have wandered away from him, let us return. He is faithful and will not cast out anyone who comes to him.
Prayer: Almighty Father, thank you for your blessed assurance. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
Prayer point: Pray for greater faith in the church of God.
