“There Will Be Showers Of Blessing!”(Ez.34:20-31).
Mola was a vegetarian until this story happened to him.????He was making a sea journey. One afternoon he stood on deck enjoying the scenery of a calm and transparent sea under a sunny sky. As he watched the clear waters of the sea, he saw a big fisn chasing after a small fish. When it caught up with the small fish, it swallowed the small fish. From that day Mola started eating fish because he wondered why he decided not to eat fish, while the big fishes were swallowing up the smaller ones.
The enemy of the fish is not necessarily the fisherman. The big fishes often swallow the small ones.
God is not always angry only with the actions of the bad shepherd. God is also disappointed with the sheep that “shove with flank and shoulder, butting all the weak sheep with” their horns until they have been driven away.
The lean sheep is not necessarily due to poor shepherding; it is because the big sheep are egocentric. Social justice is what the LORD expects of all his children. The hired househelps, as well as servants and employees have the same colour of blood flowwing through their veins. They too are created in the image of God.
Yes, even the fools, they too have their own stories to tell. They too deserve to mount the common platform of storytellers so as to tell their own stories.
Some people cannot decide to feed fat by grabbing for themselves what belongs to all. We are all children of the same father and deserve equal share in the legacy bequeathed to us.
Nevertheless, here is good news for those who have been trampled upon and deprived of their just rights: The Lord says, “I will save my flock, and they will no longer be plundered…I will place over them one shepherd…I will make a covenant of peace with them and rid the land of wild beasts…I will bless them…there will be showers of blessing…They will know that I am the Lord…They will no longer be plundered…They will live in safety, and no one will make them afraid…Then they will know that I, the LORD their God, am with them…I am your God…”
This message is directed to two groups of people: those who take delight in social injustice; exploiting others to their advantage; and those whose just rights are being trampled upon. To the former there is need for repentance and to the later there is assurance of a better tomorrow and brigther future.
Keywords/phrases of hope within the text: The LORD will be our God. He will make a new covenant of peace. He will bless us. He will send showers of blessing. We will live in safety. He is with us. He is our God. Hallelujah!
Prayer: LORD, let your covenant of peace be fully established as the fruit of justice among your people in the name of Jesus. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
