“The Time Is Now Or Never!”
Yesterday in our congregation we had an interesting message on love from a young preacher. Coincidentally we also had our session socials. During the socials the discussions gradually shifted to the pastor’s message. Among other things he had said for love to be genuine there must be communication. Interestingly most of the ladies among us said most men have lost opportunities to marry their first love because they did not speak out about their intentions to the girls they loved.
One person said communication comes in several ways. If a man keeps lavishing you with gifts then you should know that he has intentions for you. The ladies insisted that you must come out plain.
You see, we take a lot of things for granted until we realise when it is too late that we did not do what ought to have been done at the right time. As such we have allowed great opportunities to pass us by.
Jesus says many will come knocking and pleading saying, “Sir, open the door for us.” But the house owner will answer, “I don’t know you or where you come from.” The people will reply saying, “We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.” The man will still turn them away with some hard words, “…Away from me, all you evil doers.”
Yes, many think that by familiarity they have made it, but when reality dawns on them their eyes will be opened to the truth that “not all that glitters is gold!”
Don’t take things for granted. Don’t consider for example that because you were born into a Christian family and you passed through Sunday school etc, you are a guaranteed candidate for heaven. Far from it, “…there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last” (Lk.13:22-30).
My friend, it is good to “make hay while the sun shines.” Tomorrow may be too late because there may be no tomorrow for you! “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able.”
Prayer of the week: Father thank you for a new week. Holy Spirit as I enter a new week, teach me not to take things for granted but to work out my salvation while it is now. Amen!
Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
